We’re in the peak of apple season and nothing is better than pairing apples with the old-fashioned flavor of molasses. Sweetening the apples with molasses gives this pie a rich and deep caramel flavor. The method of this recipe is similar to a dump cake. All you have to do is spread the batter on top of the fruit and bake. There is no fussing with making a pie crust. The batter forms into a deliciously hearty and crunchy crust on top of the apples.

Any recommendations for what time of apples to use? This is my first attempt at apple pie and I want it to be a hit.
Great question, Kris. My favorite apples to bake with are Royal Galas, Golden Delicious, and Mutsu/Granny Smiths. Here’s a post I wrote for the best top ten: https://www.littlesweetbaker.com/best-apples-for-apple-pie/ I hope that helps and good luck with your first apple pie!
