🌟 Expert tips:

  • Choose ripe but firm plums: They should yield slightly when pressed but still hold their shape during baking.
  • Slice the plums evenly: Uniform slices help the fruit cook at the same rate and create the best texture.
  • Don’t skip the resting time: Letting the crisp cool for 10–15 minutes allows the filling to thicken and makes serving easier.
  • Bake until bubbling: Look for fruit juices bubbling around the edges and a golden-brown topping for the perfect crisp.

Storing & freezing instructions:

Storing – Cover any leftover plum crisp and store it in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Enjoy it cold, or reheat individual servings in the microwave or a 300°F (150°C) oven until warmed through.

Freezing – Let the crisp cool completely, then wrap tightly and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator and reheat in the oven before serving to restore the crisp topping.

Recipe FAQs:

Do I need to peel the plums?

No. Plum skins soften during baking and add beautiful color and flavor to the crisp.

Can I use frozen plums?

Yes, but thaw and drain them first to prevent excess liquid. You may also need to increase the baking time by 5–10 minutes.

Can I use another fruit instead of plums?

Yes! This recipe works well with peaches, nectarines, apricots, pears, or a combination of your favorite stone fruits.

Can I make this plum crisp vegan?

Yes, replace the regular butter with margarine or a plant-based butter alternative in the topping.
