Can I substitute the malted milk powder with something else?
If you don’t have malted milk powder, you can substitute it with powdered milk and a teaspoon of vanilla extract for the cake. Recipe slightly adapted from Betty Crocker
My sister wanted Maltesers Cupcakes for her birthday. So I adapted your cake recipe – I added 1 packet of Via Starbucks instant coffee, a pinch of salt and 1/4 cup of sour cream. Baked into cupcakes. I’m mixing the Chocolate Malt power with buttercream icing and will top with crushed and whole Maltesers. They’re cooling right now…and smell amazing, The left over batter was yummy. Will be trying the cupcakes tomorrow…sure they’ll be a hit. Thank you for your recipe!
You’re very welcome, Kim. Thank you for your kind feedback and happy birthday to your sister!
🙂
So good! And the frosting is just perfect. The only thing I did different is that I mixed 1/2 cup coffee with 1/2 cup of water.
Talk about an easy cake!!!
Thank you! So glad you liked it and great idea adding coffee – yum!
