A slice of Swedish apple pie with a scoop of ice cream in a vintage plate. We’re in the peak of apple season and nothing is better than pairing apples with the old-fashioned flavor of molasses. Sweetening the apples with molasses gives this pie a rich and deep caramel flavor. The method of this recipe is similar to a dump cake. All you have to do is spread the batter on top of the fruit and bake. There is no fussing with making a pie crust. The batter forms into a deliciously hearty and crunchy crust on top of the apples. Based in New Brunswick, they continue to import fancy and blackstrap molasses that is as wholesome today as it was back in 1879. The company’s fancy molasses is a single-source molasses made from the juice of sugarcane grown around the Madre Tierra sugar mill in Guatemala. The tangy and red-tinged colour is distinct to the molasses imported by Crosby’s.

Molasses is a natural sweetener comparable to honey and maple syrup. Crosby’s fancy molasses is pure sugarcane juice that has been condensed, inverted, and purified. It is 100% natural, contains no additives, and is unsulfured and non-GMO certified. To celebrate the fall baking season, Crosby’s is giving away a KitchenAid Artisan Mini Stand Mixer to one lucky winner. Contest closes October 20th, 2020 11:59 am. Click here to enter.
